Synaptix Systems Adds New Board Members

Mr. David Berkus is Managing Partner of Kodiak Ventures, LP and Berkus Technology Ventures, LLC. He is also Chairman Emeritus of the Tech Coast Angels, an investing network focused on early stage technology companies.
Mr. Berkus has a proven track record in operations and investing. As an entrepreneur, he has formed, managed and sold successful businesses in the entertainment and software arenas. As an investor, he has obtained healthy returns from liquidity events in over a dozen investments in early-stage ventures. In the last ten years he has made 49 investments in early stage ventures, for which he has an IRR of 97%. In recognition for adding significant shareholder value for emerging technology companies, he was named “Director of the Year – 1999” by the Forum for Corporate Directors of Orange County, California. Mr. Berkus is also co-author of “Better Than Money!” – a book for emerging growth company executives addressing the issues resulting from rapid growth, and is listed in Marquis’ “Who’s Who In America” and “Who’s Who In The World”.
Mr. Robert Stephens is the former CEO of Adaptec, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADPT) and currently serves on the Boards of Directors for multiple companies including Finisar (NASDAQ: FNSR).
Mr. Stephens spent 9 years leading Adaptec before retiring in 2005. During this period he drove the diversification of the business direction from I/O hardware to broader storage products including storage software. Before Adaptec, Mr. Stephens was President and CEO of Emulex Corporation. During his tenure there, he redirected the company’s operations to the development of ASIC technology and networking products. His restructuring efforts helped create rapid growth for the company’s networking division, and led to the spin-off of its SCSI and Fibre Channel businesses as QLogic Corporation. Prior to Emulex, Mr. Stephens was senior vice president, general manager, and founder of the Microcomputer Products Group at Western Digital Corporation. His career began at IBM, where he served over 15 years in a variety of management positions.
