Synaptix Systems Delivers Project Management Framework for Fortune 50 Healthcare Customer’s Merger & Acquisition (M&A) Integration Program

ALISO VIEJO, California – February 21, 2008 – Synaptix Systems Inc., a leading strategy and solutions firm that helps clients understand & maximize return on their information technology (IT) and project investments, today announced the successful delivery of a project management framework for a Fortune 50 Healthcare industry client’s acquisition integration initiative. Synaptix Systems’ resources also managed one of the key integration projects to an on-time, on-budget completion.

As part of its overall plan to grow from a $4B entity to a $10B company over a 2.5 year timeline, Synaptix Systems’ customer had created an organization with a charter that included handling the integration of companies that the customer acquired. Such integration needed to address process, system and cultural differences between the customer and its acquiree(s), so as to yield a cohesive combination that could take advantage of the best components of each party. The integration function thus called for a complex yet flexible set of tools to enable the customer to incorporate acquired companies with varying characteristics.

Working closely with the customer’s internal management team, Synaptix Project Management Office (PMO) experts not only produced a set of “delivery-centric” processes and tools that were tailored to managing macro- and micro-level integration, but also successfully utilized these artifacts in a practical real-world acquisition integration project (in which the customer absorbed a several hundred million dollar healthcare niche company). Following completion of the project, Synaptix Systems and the customer iterated on the Project Management (PM) framework to incorporate lessons learned from the initial project delivery and to define a repeatable PM procedure set.

The Synaptix team helped the customer to (a) eliminate system and process redundancies while being sensitive to cultural nuances, (b) take advantage of process and procedural best practices, (c) produce synergies that are forecasted to produce cost savings in excess of $4M annually, (d) increase employee morale by 20+% as measured by integration-specific survey results, and (e) begin to realize the bottom-line value expected of the acquisition.
