Synaptix Systems Leads HIPAA Migration Project for Fortune 50 Healthcare Customer

ALISO VIEJO, California – March 25, 2010 – Synaptix Systems Inc., a leading strategy and solutions firm that helps clients understand & maximize return on their information technology (IT) and project investments, today announced the successful delivery of the first phase of a large scale Data Migration & Integration project for a Fortune 50 Healthcare industry client.

In line with new Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations, Synaptix Systems’ client was confronted with a mandate to migrate its Health Insurance Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) transactions from the HIPAA 4010 standard to the new HIPAA 5010 standard. This meant that the transaction data specifics for Medical Claims, Claim Payments, Member Eligibility, Enrollment and other areas would need to be modified both for existing transaction partner companies and for newly on-boarded transaction partners.

The client turned to Synaptix Systems to help drive the data definition and payer outreach segments of the overall initiative. Synaptix project management and business systems analysis resources partnered with the Health Insurance client’s internal IT team to define & implement the details of the Data Migration process and to ensure that the new 5010 transaction standards were being met.

With the project’s first major phase having been successfully completed, Synaptix Systems’ customer will begin to realize numerous incremental benefits. As usage of 5010 transaction set data increases, (a) communication errors and the resulting required rework will continue to decrease, (b) overall EDI connectivity costs between the client and other Healthcare industry partners will likely continue to drop, and (c) the Healthcare client will continue to remain in compliance with government regulations.
